Format Interpreters

A format Interpreter is an advanced option that can alter the way a standard format is processed. These options should generally only be used after consultation with Patriot support staff.

There is an Interpreter option on each client available on the Event Types tab.

Use Zone Group Code

Redirects a signal from one area of a client to another area depending on which area contains the reported zone. Behaves in a similar way to the Use Zone Group Code option (see Area Code section), but has the advantage of only being applied for certain event types. The Interpreter will only apply when the event type record uses an action plan of Zone Info, or when the event type action plan has User Info and the event type also has a module value above 0 set. To configure certain event types to ignore this Interpreter, ensure the action plan of the event type is of signal type User Info (Opening or Closing), and the event type has a module number value of 0.

SIA Decimal

Patriot treats the zone number in SIA signal events as hexadecimal, in line with SIA standards. Some panels send decimal zones instead, which can cause a zone mismatch. The SIA Decimal interpreter changes Patriot's zone processing to treat the SIA zone as decimal directly, rather than hex.

To trigger a manual alarm in Patriot, you'll need to convert the zone number before entering it. Patriot only lets you enter a plain decimal number, and it uses the hexadecimal form of that number as the zone — so enter the adjusted value below to get the zone you actually want: Enter = Zone + 6×(tens) + 156×(hundreds) + 3096×(thousands)

  • Zone 5 : 5 + 6×0 = 5 (single-digit zones need no conversion)
  • Zone 12 (tens 1) : 12 + 6×1 = 18
  • Zone 123 (tens 2, hundreds 1) : 123 + 6×2 + 156×1 = 291
  • Zone 1234 (tens 3, hundreds 2, thousands 1) : 1234 + 6×3 + 156×2 + 3096×1 = 4660

SIA Decimal By Zone

Convert the zone using the same logic as SIA Decimal, but report the signal to the area that contains the reported zone.

note

It is not recommended to use SIA Decimal By Zone or CISSimmsIIByZone together with Area Code. Both features attempt to locate the matching zone independently, resulting in the zone lookup being performed twice, which can lead to unexpected behaviour.

Interpreter Overrides

Interpreter Overrides

This feature requires the Interpreter Overrides Module.

In addition to the default interpreter, you can add extra interpreters for specific signal format types. The interpreter will be used for the matching formats only - otherwise the existing/default interpreter will be used. Here is the list of signal formats that are currently supported:

  • Contact ID (CID)

  • Inner Range Fast (IRFast)

  • Four By Two

  • SIA

  • Ademco Fast (ADFast)

  • Manual*

    *Applies to manually inserted signals

Note that Manual applies to manually inserted signals.
